Brief History of the Department
The Department of Applied Psychology, KaziNazrul University started its journey in the year 2015. The department got its first batch convocated in 2018. The department is the first post-graduate department in West Bengal to run a syllabus based on CBCS system. The department is offering 3 specializations currently Clinical Psychology, Organizational Psychology and Rehabilitation Psychology to its credit. The Department has an official collaboration with Centre for Counselling and Positive Psychology of KaziNazrul University. Students of the Department run a wall magazine titled ‘MonerAntorale’.

- To impart and create theoretical knowledge of the functioning of human mind and behaviour, and its application in real life situations.
- To create sensible and responsible professionals who will work to promote mental health and well-being in the community.
- To foster criticality among students to enrich & explore analytical perspective.
- To develop skilled professionals in the field of human behaviour and cognition.
Mission of the Department
- To facilitate teaching-learning environment through practical training and research in the discipline of psychology.
- To provide lab based and field exposures to students to study human behavior, cognition and emotion.
- Liaison with industries and mental health institutions for in-hand training.
- To provide diagnostic, evaluative and interventions services to fulfill the need of mental health and rehabilitation centers.
- To develop students who can generate strategic action plans and manage human resources in the organization.
- To train the students in psychometry, counselling and psychotherapy for various psychological problems.
- To train the scholars in empirical understanding and produce data driven theories of human behaviour.
