Brief History of the Department

The Department started its journey in the year 2015. Presently, it offers 4 semesters Master Degree Programme (M. Sc in Physics). The unique course structure of M.Sc. (Physics) blends well the areas of contemporary and applied Physics to create post-graduates who are equally comfortable with science and technology. The department is offering Ph. D programme in the field of both experimental and theoretical Physics.

Vision of the Department

To impart knowledge in experimental and theoretical physics that can help develop scientific attitude for problem solving and thus acquire analytical, numerical and practical skills to face contemporary challenges in different areas of the subject

Mission of the Department

  • Develop indigenous scientific thoughts and values
  • Familiarize students  with contemporary development in physics through
  • (i) problem solving (ii) interactive sessions (tutorial & seminars) and (iii) continuous modification of the course content

  • Promote analytical way of thinking
  • Expose  students to existing theories and experiments, and encourage them to explore new horizons of physics
