Industry-Institute-Interaction Cell (I-I-I-C)
Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol
As per AICTE guidelines, all the institutions covered under the Project to form Industry-Institute-Interaction Cell (I-I-I-C) to establish purposeful interaction between Industry and institution. For the Cell to function smoothly and to meet its objectives effectively, I-I-I-C must have some core staff.
1. Objective:
i. To explore and identify common avenues of interaction with Industry as per the requirements of the institution.
2. MEMBER OF IIIC
a) Dr. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Chairman
b) Dr. Arindam Biswas, Head, Department of Mining Engineering, KNU Member
c) Prof. Projjal Basu, Head, Department of Metallurgical Engineering, KNU Member
d) Three Members from Industry Member
i. Dr. D Basu, Former Regional Director, CMPDIL
ii. Mr. Soumyajit Sarkar, Vice President Operation and Plant Head, Tata Metallics Ltd
iii. Dr. Sandipan Sarkar, Global CTO – Data & AI, Cloud Advisory, IBM Services
e) Dr. Arghya Majumder,Training & Placement Officer(Addl. Charge) Member & Convener
The members will be increased as per the requirements of the Cell internally from various departments of the University and externally from Various Industries.
3. Strategy:
IIIC will be responsible for designing the roadmap for interaction with Industry recognizing the inherent strengths as well as the weaknesses of the institution. The Government organizations in this region also can participate in the Industry-Institution-Interaction-Cell.
4. Suggested Activities under IIIC:
a) To identify and facilitate Guest Lectures, Interactive workshops, conferences, seminars, Brainstorming Sessions, Technical Discussions etc. with Members of the Industry, outside Experts, eminent personalities at regular intervals.
b) To conduct Industrial Training, Orientation Courses, Industrial Visits etc. for faculty and students at regular intervals.
c) To facilitate joint research work, consultancy involving faculty and students.
d) To conduct industrial exhibitions to highlight research facilities and expertise available with the institution.
e) To facilitate professionals from Industry to work as visiting faculty in institutions and short or long periods deployment of faculty from institutions to Industry for gaining industrial experience and/or work on projects in Industry.
f) To seek and associate Experts from Industry in Curriculum improvement and review.
g) To identify Continuing Education opportunities, short-term programs, and training needs of the Industry, which the institution can provide.
h) To promote revenue generating activities for the institution like Lab Testing, Calibration, consultancy, and R&D etc.
i) To assess periodically the scientific and technological scenario/ happenings in India and abroad in order to translate it into action for taking up future R&D work.
j) To train unskilled School / College dropout Students for providing skilled labors for entrepreneurs and for Industries
5. Deliverables: I-I-I-C will be responsible for the following deliverables:
Increase in collaboration with Industry
Increased rate of campus placement of students
Increase in industrial training for students arranged by institution
Absorption of students by same industries providing industrial training
Increase in utilization of institutional resources by Industry
Increase in solving the real-life problems of the region
6. Possible Funding by:
Scheme PMKVY(TI) through AICTE portal, Govt of India, National Skill Development Corporation, Utkarsha Bangla, Govt of WB, UGC skill development and from Various Industries

7. Social Impact:
The Cell will work towards the development of the University as well as surrounding areas. As some of the activities towards job creation for the students, they will be well equipped to serve the Industry and in turn the Country. The University will also train unskilled School / College dropout Students for providing skilled labors for entrepreneurs and for Industries. In fact, KNU will be the first State University to think about the development of those ill-fated students & youths, which in turn will develop the local community. Those efforts may be appreciated and funded by different schemes of Govt.
8. Financial Benefit:
No direct monetary Investments of Institute but the infrastructure can be developed by utilizing the Govt. funds of such schemes.
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
The Institute will be signing MoU with Public, Private & Government organization with focus on Job Creation for the students, Consultancy, Projects, Industry Visit, Faculty Training, Teaching etc.
